Our innovative anti-smoking Cut Films project working with young people in youth organisations across the Isle of Man.
Manx cut films
We’re asking the young people of Isle of Man to enter our short film competition and help persuade their friends not to smoke.
We are offering support through free filmmaking and anti-tobacco workshops.
You can book anti-smoking workshops as one day sessions or over a longer period of time between 3-8 workshops of between 1-3 hours.
Our anti-smoking and filmmaking workshops link to PSHE and a range of subject including citizenship, media studies, English, ICT, drama, biology, chemistry and geography.
The project has been kindly funded by the Isle of Man Anti-Cancer Association
‘The Public Health Directorate supports Cut Films as a unique and creative way of engaging young people to develop media campaigns that are tailored to their peer group. Although the long term impact of many interventions to prevent smoking uptake in young people remains unclear, Cut Films addresses some of the recommendations by NICE (NICE 2008, 2010). The Public Health Directorate hopes that the Cut Films project will help young people to work together, develop new skills, deliver messages to peers in their own terms, and empower them to resist social pressures to smoke.’
